Principal Façade Engineer
Location: London / Kent / Essex / Surrey
Salary: £80,000 – £90,000 + Benefits

An established and growing multidisciplinary consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Façade Engineer to lead and develop its façade engineering capability across London and the South East.

The business has built a strong reputation within the built environment, with established specialist teams across fire engineering and acoustic design, and is now looking to further strengthen its façade offering.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced façade engineer who is looking to take on greater responsibility, influence the direction of a growing team and play a key role in developing the consultancy's façade engineering service.

The Role

You will take a leading role within the façade team, working across a varied portfolio of new-build and existing-building projects while helping to develop the technical capability, client base and longer-term growth of the division.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading façade engineering projects from concept and design development through to construction and completion.
• Providing technical leadership across façade design, specification, assessment and remediation projects.
• Reviewing architectural and engineering designs and advising on façade performance and buildability.
• Undertaking façade condition surveys, inspections and technical assessments.
• Advising on façade materials, systems, interfaces and appropriate design solutions.
• Producing and reviewing technical reports, specifications and design documentation.
• Supporting projects involving façade remediation and existing building assessments.
• Helping to recruit, develop and grow the façade engineering team.
• Supporting business development, preparing proposals and developing relationships with both new and existing clients.
• Working closely with the consultancy's established fire engineering and acoustic teams to provide a coordinated multidisciplinary service.

Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Significant professional experience within façade engineering or façade consultancy.
• A strong technical understanding of façade systems, materials and construction methods.
• Experience delivering façade projects within the UK built environment.
• Knowledge of relevant UK Building Regulations, standards and industry guidance.
• Experience conducting façade surveys, inspections and technical assessments.
• Strong report writing and technical communication skills.
• Experience managing projects and maintaining client relationships.
• The ability to provide technical leadership and mentor more junior members of a team.
• A relevant degree in engineering, architecture, façade engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered status, or progress towards chartership, would be advantageous.
• Previous experience developing a service line, team or client portfolio would be particularly beneficial.
