We’re working with a well-established and growing engineering consultancy in Birmingham to recruit an experienced Civil Engineer to join their expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and technically skilled engineer to contribute to a broad portfolio of commercial and residential development projects.
The successful candidate will be joining a respected consultancy known for delivering innovative, high-quality engineering solutions. Project work spans everything from small highway improvements to large-scale, multi-million-pound developments. This role offers a chance to support the continued growth of a strategically important area of the business.
As a Civil Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of infrastructure, highways, earthworks, and drainage schemes. You'll be involved throughout the project lifecycle—from feasibility and planning through to detailed design and construction.
Develop detailed designs for highways, drainage, and earthworks in accordance with relevant legislation and local authority requirements
Prepare technical drawings and reports for a variety of residential and commercial schemes
Coordinate with clients, contractors, local authorities, architects, and other stakeholders
Attend and contribute to design meetings, offering practical and technical design advice
Assist in managing project timelines and deliverables across multiple schemes
Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
Minimum of 3 years’ post-graduate experience within a UK consultancy
Strong understanding of highway, drainage, and infrastructure design standards (DMRB, MfS)
Experience with S278, S38, and S104 adoption agreements
Experience in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Site3D, and MicroDrainage
Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to design challenges
Strong communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and present ideas clearly
Well-organised and capable of managing multiple deadlines simultaneously
