Principal / Associate Civil Engineer
Bristol/Cardiff/Bridgend
£55,000 – £65,000 (DOE) + bonus 

We are working in partnership with a well-established Chartered Civil & Structural Engineering consultancy as they continue to strengthen their senior leadership team across the Southwest and South Wales. Known for delivering smart, commercially driven engineering solutions, the consultancy supports a diverse client base on projects throughout the UK.

With offices in Bristol, Cardiff and Bridgend, the business promotes a highly collaborative culture where technical excellence, professional integrity and long-term client relationships are fundamental to successful project delivery.

The Role

This opportunity is ideal for an accomplished Principal or Associate-level Civil Engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects, teams and client relationships. You will have a key role in leading technical delivery, guiding project teams and supporting existing clients, while also contributing to the ongoing growth and direction of the consultancy.

The role combines hands-on engineering with leadership and strategic involvement, making it well suited to someone looking to solidify or progress their position within senior consultancy leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for the delivery of civil engineering projects across a range of sectors
• Lead, mentor and develop small to medium-sized teams to ensure high technical standards and efficient delivery
• Act as a trusted technical lead and main point of contact for key clients
• Manage project performance, including programmes, resources and financial control
• Provide technical oversight, mentoring and line management to junior and mid-level engineers
• Work closely with architects, contractors and statutory authorities
• Ensure compliance with current standards, legislation and industry best practice
• Contribute to the continued growth, profile and reputation of the consultancy

About You

• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Chartered status (ICE or equivalent preferred)
• Extensive experience within a UK civil engineering consultancy
• Demonstrable experience leading teams and managing projects from inception to completion
• Strong technical background in infrastructure, drainage and highways design
• Commercially astute with confidence in managing client relationships
• Comfortable operating at a senior level within a multidisciplinary environment
• Proficient in industry-standard civil engineering design software
