Transport Planner – Birmingham

Salary: £35,000 – £50,000 (DOE) + Excellent Benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport Planner to join a respected consultancy in their growing Birmingham office. This is a fantastic role for someone looking to take the next step in their career, working on a diverse range of transport planning and infrastructure projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans, including coordination and monitoring.
  • Carry out junction capacity assessments using ARCADY, PICADY, and LINSIG.
  • Produce and present technical drawings, written reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and local or national authorities.
  • Ensure that all project work is delivered on time, within budget, and to a high technical standard.
  • Review and check the quality and accuracy of work prepared by junior team members.
  • Support and mentor junior colleagues, helping to develop their technical skills and confidence.
  • Assist Team Leaders in providing highways and transport advice from early feasibility through to detailed design.
  • Undertake site visits, design and manage surveys, and contribute to the preparation of presentations and reports.
  • Maintain up-to-date records and project documentation.
  • Play an active role in developing and expanding the Birmingham office and its presence in the region.

About You:

  • Degree in Transport Planning, Geography, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 2–5 years’ experience in UK Transport Planning and an understanding of relevant guidance and standards.
  • MCIHT membership (or working towards) desirable.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Practical experience using ARCADY, PICADY, and LINSIG.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD is advantageous.
