Transport Planner – Birmingham
Salary: £35,000 – £50,000 (DOE) + Excellent Benefits
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport Planner to join a respected consultancy in their growing Birmingham office. This is a fantastic role for someone looking to take the next step in their career, working on a diverse range of transport planning and infrastructure projects across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans, including coordination and monitoring.
- Carry out junction capacity assessments using ARCADY, PICADY, and LINSIG.
- Produce and present technical drawings, written reports, and supporting documentation.
- Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and local or national authorities.
- Ensure that all project work is delivered on time, within budget, and to a high technical standard.
- Review and check the quality and accuracy of work prepared by junior team members.
- Support and mentor junior colleagues, helping to develop their technical skills and confidence.
- Assist Team Leaders in providing highways and transport advice from early feasibility through to detailed design.
- Undertake site visits, design and manage surveys, and contribute to the preparation of presentations and reports.
- Maintain up-to-date records and project documentation.
- Play an active role in developing and expanding the Birmingham office and its presence in the region.
About You:
- Degree in Transport Planning, Geography, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 2–5 years’ experience in UK Transport Planning and an understanding of relevant guidance and standards.
- MCIHT membership (or working towards) desirable.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent numeracy and analytical skills.
- Practical experience using ARCADY, PICADY, and LINSIG.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD is advantageous.
