A well-established environmental consultancy is seeking a dynamic and motivated Senior Hydrogeologist to join its Contaminated Land and Hydrogeology team. This is an excellent opportunity to become a key part of a technically strong and innovative group, delivering a range of hydrogeological and contaminated land projects across the UK.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive, ambitious, and technically skilled hydrogeologist with excellent communication, writing, and presentation abilities. They will have a proven background in technical delivery, project management, and client liaison, along with a commitment to maintaining high professional and ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage hydrogeological and contaminated land projects from inception to completion, ensuring technical quality, budget control, and client satisfaction.
- Provide technical expertise across a range of hydrogeological disciplines, including groundwater assessment, water resources, and environmental risk analysis.
- Develop conceptual site models, analyse complex data sets, and produce high-quality technical reports and risk assessments.
- Contribute to business development activities by identifying new opportunities and supporting strategic growth within the hydrogeology service area.
- Mentor and support junior team members, encouraging professional development and knowledge sharing.
- Maintain awareness of emerging technical innovations, regulatory changes, and industry best practice.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Strong technical background in hydrogeology, ideally with experience in both contaminated land and groundwater resource projects.
- Competence in analytical modelling software such as RTM, CLEA, ConSim, or RAM, with additional experience in numerical groundwater modelling (e.g. MODFLOW or FEFLOW) advantageous.
- Hands-on field experience including drilling supervision, soil and water sampling, groundwater monitoring, and aquifer testing.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, coordinate teams, and deliver high-quality outputs.
- Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g. GeolSoc, IES, IEMA, CIWEM, or equivalent).
- Degree (BSc/BEng) in a relevant field, with MSc or postgraduate qualification preferred.
- Full UK driving licence.
