We are supporting a well‑established civil engineering business that specialises in delivering highways and infrastructure projects across the UK. They’re looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team and support the delivery of a broad range of civils works.

The Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be responsible for cost control and commercial management across highways, drainage and general civils schemes. You’ll play a key part in keeping projects financially healthy, compliant with NEC processes, and delivered in line with client expectations.
This is a hybrid position, combining office, site and home working.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate monthly cost and value reports (CVRs).
- Assess and submit quotations, variations and compensation events.
- Prepare pricing for maintenance and framework‑based works.
- Maintain up‑to‑date cost information within internal systems and resolve cost‑related queries.
- Prepare and submit payment applications, valuations and final accounts.
- Manage the subcontractor supply chain — orders, payments, AFP assessments and commercial queries.
- Identify project risks and support mitigation strategies.
- Advise on contractual compliance, cost changes and scope amendments.
- Attend project meetings, both internally and with clients.
- Build strong relationships with subcontractors, operational teams and client representatives.
What They’re Looking For
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong experience working under NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
- Background in civil engineering, ideally highways, drainage, structures or infrastructure maintenance.
- Excellent Excel/Word skills and confidence with database systems.
- Commercially aware, analytical and highly organised.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
- Full UK driving licence (travel to sites when required).
