  • GBP 50000 to 55000 Annum

We are supporting a well‑established civil engineering business that specialises in delivering highways and infrastructure projects across the UK. They’re looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team and support the delivery of a broad range of civils works.

If you’re looking for a role that offers variety, autonomy, and long‑term progression within a stable and highly reputable environment, this opportunity will appeal.

The Role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be responsible for cost control and commercial management across highways, drainage and general civils schemes. You’ll play a key part in keeping projects financially healthy, compliant with NEC processes, and delivered in line with client expectations.

This is a hybrid position, combining office, site and home working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate monthly cost and value reports (CVRs).
  • Assess and submit quotations, variations and compensation events.
  • Prepare pricing for maintenance and framework‑based works.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date cost information within internal systems and resolve cost‑related queries.
  • Prepare and submit payment applications, valuations and final accounts.
  • Manage the subcontractor supply chain — orders, payments, AFP assessments and commercial queries.
  • Identify project risks and support mitigation strategies.
  • Advise on contractual compliance, cost changes and scope amendments.
  • Attend project meetings, both internally and with clients.
  • Build strong relationships with subcontractors, operational teams and client representatives.

What They’re Looking For

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong experience working under NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
  • Background in civil engineering, ideally highways, drainage, structures or infrastructure maintenance.
  • Excellent Excel/Word skills and confidence with database systems.
  • Commercially aware, analytical and highly organised.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Full UK driving licence (travel to sites when required).

What’s on Offer

To ensure the successful candidate feels supported and valued, the employer offers a well‑rounded and competitive package, including:

  • Competitive salary with a car allowance
  • Flexible/hybrid working structure
  • A supportive pension arrangement
  • Enhanced leave entitlement to promote work–life balance
  • Health‑related benefits to support your wellbeing
  • Long‑term financial protection benefits
  • Access to discounts and employee perks
  • Ongoing training, development and progression opportunities
