Senior Estimator

Location: London (with UK projects)

We’re working with a well‑established UK structural engineering and construction specialist to recruit an experienced Senior Estimator to join their pre‑construction team.

This is a senior role focused on leading complex tenders from initial strategy through to handover, combining hands‑on estimating with bid leadership and stakeholder coordination. It will suit an experienced Senior Estimator who is comfortable owning the bid process and working closely with commercial and delivery teams.

The Role

You’ll take responsibility for leading major structural tenders, ensuring commercial and technical submissions are produced to a high standard, compliant with client requirements and delivered to programme. The role involves coordinating internal contributors, supply chain partners and client teams throughout the bid lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Agree bid strategy with pre‑construction leadership to secure profitable work
• Lead the estimating and bid process from enquiry through to tender settlement
• Chair bid meetings and coordinate internal subject matter experts
• Develop and manage bid programmes and submission milestones
• Prepare, review and contribute to technical, commercial and financial bid content
• Manage the approved bid budget and monitor resource allocation
• Engage with the supply chain to develop competitive pricing and bid proposals
• Maintain tender documentation, clarification logs and governance records
• Lead tender settlement meetings and support internal approval processes
• Support the handover of secured projects into delivery teams
• Establish and maintain project risk registers during the bid phase

About You

• Proven experience as a Senior Estimator within construction, ideally structural or specialist works
• Strong understanding of the end‑to‑end tendering and pre‑construction process
• Experience leading bids rather than simply pricing packages
• Commercially astute with strong attention to detail
• Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with clients and senior stakeholders
• Organised, deadline‑driven and calm under pressure
