Our client is a well-established multidisciplinary consultancy with a strong presence across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Senior Transport Planner to join their expanding team in Newcastle.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transport planner to work on a wide variety of development and infrastructure projects while progressing their career within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Role

As a Senior Transport Planner, you will play a key role in delivering transport planning projects across residential, commercial, mixed-use, and infrastructure developments. You will manage projects, provide technical expertise, and support the development of junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver Transport Assessments (TA), Transport Statements (TS) and Travel Plans.
• Undertake junction capacity assessments using industry-standard software such as Junctions (ARCADY/PICADY) and LinSig.
• Analyse traffic data and undertake transport forecasting and modelling.
• Develop site access strategies and sustainable transport strategies.
• Liaise with local authorities, highways officers, and other key stakeholders.
• Support project management including programme delivery and client communication.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development.
• Attend client and stakeholder meetings representing the transport team.

About You

• Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline.
• 4+ years’ experience in a transport planning consultancy environment.
• Experience preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans.
• Familiarity with Junctions software (ARCADY/PICADY), LinSig, and transport datasets such as TRICS or TEMPro.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively within a team.
