Geotechnical Engineer – London | £50,000–£60,000 + Package
We are working with a well-established, specialist engineering consultancy based in Central London, who are looking to appoint a Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a close-knit, highly technical group delivering complex projects across London and the wider UK, primarily supporting major contractors on challenging urban schemes.
You will be involved in a broad range of geotechnical design and assessment work, often working alongside temporary works teams on live construction projects. The role offers strong exposure to complex soil–structure interaction challenges in dense urban environments.
Key responsibilities include:
Geotechnical design, including retaining walls, bearing piles, raft and pile-assisted raft foundations
Earthworks support and sheet pile design
Slope stability assessments
Ground movement and damage assessments related to structural loading and retaining wall behaviour
Assessment of third-party assets (e.g. tunnels, buried infrastructure, adjacent structures)
Specification of ground investigations and production of interpretative reports
Proven experience in geotechnical engineering, ideally within a consultancy or contractor-facing environment
Strong understanding of soil–structure interaction
Experience working with or assessing third-party assets (e.g. tunnels, utilities, party wall matters)
Comfortable working on contractor-led projects and fast-paced design environments
Ability to manage site investigation scopes and deliver high-quality technical reports
