Associate Electrical Design Engineer 

Location: London

Salary: £60,000 - £75,000 

As an Associate Electrical Engineer, you’ll take a leading role in delivering technically outstanding projects from concept to completion. You will manage and mentor engineers within the electrical team, oversee project delivery, and act as a key client liaison—ensuring design quality, innovation, and sustainability are at the heart of everything you do.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Provide technical leadership and project oversight for the London Electrical Engineering team, ensuring consistently high-quality design delivery.
  • Lead and review all technical outputs, including load analysis, lighting design, distribution strategies, specifications, and client presentations.
  • Manage and develop team members through mentoring, training, recruitment, and performance support.
  • Champion innovation and new service development, introducing emerging technologies, certifications, and best practices
  • Conduct site inspections and technical surveys, providing practical engineering solutions and system improvement recommendations.
  • Take a client-facing leadership role—managing relationships, attending design team meetings, and reporting on project progress.
  • Support business development through bid writing, fee proposals, client engagement, and participation in project interviews.
  • Represent the firm at industry events and professional bodies
  • Oversee resource planning and coordination.
  • Assist with financial management of projects.

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum of 7/8 years’ experience within the industry 
  •  Experience within a consultancy setting
  • Proficient in industry software i.e. Amtech, Dialux etc
  • In-depth understanding of UK electrical standards, British Standards, regulations, best practices, and CIBSE codes.
  •  Demonstrated experience in delivering electrical engineering documentation across multiple sectors and all RIBA stages.
  •  Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
  • Skilled in financial management, tender preparation, and business development activities.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels.
  • Passionate about driving innovation and shaping the future of electrical design engineering within the UK construction industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
