An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site Supervisor to join a specialist highways and civil engineering contractor working on high‑speed road networks and complex infrastructure projects.
This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who leads from the front, prioritises safety, and takes pride in delivering quality work in demanding live environments.
Please note: This role will involve night shifts and working away from home on occasion.
The Role
As Site Supervisor, you will oversee day‑to‑day site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to programme. You will coordinate labour, plant, and subcontractors while maintaining clear communication with both operational management and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Site Supervision & Delivery
- Supervise site activities and coordinate resources to deliver the programme of works
- Deliver toolbox talks and ensure method statements and RAMS are followed
- Manage subcontractors and site personnel on live highway projects
Health & Safety
- Ensure all works are carried out safely with no risk to operatives, subcontractors, site visitors, or the public
- Promote a strong safety‑first culture at all times
- Ensure compliance with principal contractor duties
Communication & Coordination
- Act as the on‑site point of contact for subcontractors and client representatives
- Keep the management team informed of progress, issues, and risks
Quality Assurance
- Carry out weekly site inspections
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and site housekeeping
- Ensure plant, vehicles, and machinery are fit for purpose and correctly maintained
- Complete quality checks and ITPs as required
Problem Solving
- Identify issues early and proactively resolve challenges as they arise on site
About You
Experience & Knowledge
- Proven experience as a Site Supervisor on high‑speed roads / highways projects
- Background in highways, bridges, structures, waterproofing, or civils works
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles including road construction, drainage, earthworks, and structures
- Conversant with quality inspections and ITP processes
Qualifications
- CSCS Supervisor Card
- SSSTS or SMSTS
Skills & Attributes
- Strong commitment to health and safety
- Confident leader with excellent communication skills
- Able to work in fast‑paced, changing environments
- IT‑literate with good working knowledge of site systems
- Full, clean UK driving licence
